My La Pavoni Profesional lever espresso machine right now is carefully packed away in a box. I'm thinking of putting this machine on Ebay because simply it is not being used enough and quiet frankly, I do not have the counter space to put it. Furthermore, I'm in the process of moving to a new house and would appreciate and shread in weight when I'm moving.

However, don't get me wrong, the La Pavoni is a very good machine and capable of producing phenomenal result. Countrary to many enthusiasts' belief that the direct lever like the Pavoni is finicky, I have developed a routine that if I follow correctly would produce excellent espresso from the Pavoni everytime. An obvious problem with the Pavoni Lever such as the Professional is that the first shot is cold and the second shot is just right but the subsequent shot would be overheated.

A breakthrough that I had with the Pavoni was installing a liquid crystal thermometer strip on the group head. The point was not to know the exact temperature but to have a reference point of when the group head is overheated and require nescesary cooling. After that, it was a breeze to produce thick and delicious espresso, almost every time. However, having said that, the Pavoni is still quite impractical for making drinks for more than one person (for example if you have guests coming over or you have more than one coffee drinker in your house). Pavoni would produce one exceptional shot but after that the quality of espresso deteriate exponentially even with cooling methods.

Therefore, I have decide that I need to say good bye to the Pavoni and hope that it will find a good home. In the next week or so, I will be taking it out of the box, and take photo and video demonstration of it for the purpose of selling it on Ebay.

but you certainly have a collection of great and probably better machines, so it is a reasonable choice to let it go.

looks like you are leaving this lever but with a back up you can still have the manual experience - good luck with your sale.

If I would consider only the quality of the espresso, the Pavoni compare very well against the Ponte Vecchio Lusso. There would be some coffee that would shine in the PV lusso like lightly roasted washed single origin while the Pavoni would render the classic espresso blend very well. By the way, Pavoni tend to produce shots that has more body and creama and more "punch".

Ignoring the number of drinks limitation of the La Pavoni, how would you say the quality of its espresso compares to your Ponte Vecchio?

I have two other lever machines, a two groups Ponte Vecchio Lusso and a Riviera Eagle. The Riviera Eagle needs to be refurbished when I can find the time. The ponte Vecchio Lusso get a lot more use than the Pavoni because it can make multiple drinks at one time.

I hear they are good machines and this might be the first lever I get if I ever go down this road. Do you have another lever machine or do you have another bigger badder machine you use?
