I just love the way this article makes coffee tasting as simple as possible. And really it should be. 25% of the population is defined as “supertasters” meaning they have the capability to easily distinguish between different tastes.

    It depend on how you would define lucky or unluckly? Unluckly because if you have good coffee, you will be obsessed about it and can not drink crap coffee anymore?

    My wife is among the 25% and it can be quite humbling if I screw up a brew and she tells me what is wrong with it and to just "try harder" next time! =S

    and I think I am glad I am not one as from what I've read they are more sensitive to tastes and so some of the things that I love such as spicy food and so can't eat them as they blow out their super taste buds.

    Not me - I can get close on profile but the specific flavors tend to run together for me - I can detect fruit but maybe it is apricot, or maybe it just tastes sweet with a hint of tart. I enjoy trying though.

    i never thought to compare tasting of wine to tasting of coffee, but it makes sense now that i think about it!
    i will definitely start paying more attention to the aroma, flavors and such and see if i can tell the difference.
